Resident Evil Revelations Xbox One, PS4 Gameplay Trailer Released

Some months ago back in March, Capcom announced that they will be bringing Resident Evil Revelations onto the PS4 and Xbox One. It was originally designed for the Nintendo 3DS before it was eventually ported onto the PC, the PS3, Xbox 360, and the Wii U, and if you’re wondering what the game will look like, you’re in luck.


Resident Evil Revelations was released in 2012 which means that it is considered somewhat dated by now. However given that it will be brought onto the PS4 and Xbox One, obviously certain upgrades in the graphics department had to be made, and now thanks to gameplay trailers released for both platforms, we can have a look at what to expect.

The game itself will remain largely the same but as you can tell from the trailer, it looks a little different from its predecessor, but we suppose in a good way. The game has currently been pegged for a release in Japan come 31sth of August, but at the moment there is no mention of when it will be released in North America or Europe, save for a vague timeframe of Autumn 2017.
There is also mention of whether or not it will be released for the Nintendo Switch, given that it found its way onto the Wii U, so we guess maybe Switch gamers shouldn’t hold their breaths for now.

Resident Evil Revelations 1 & 2 Coming To The Nintendo Switch

If you’re hoping to see a Resident Evil title arrive for the Nintendo Switch, you might have been a bit bummed when earlier this year, the game’s producer ruled out launching Resident Evil for the Switch. However Capcom had recently revealed that they were working on more titles for the platform, and Resident Evil has been revealed to be some of them.


Capcom has recently confirmed that Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2 will be coming to the Switch. No word on a release date yet, but Capcom states that it will most likely be later in 2017. Granted this isn’t Resident Evil 7 which we’re sure many gamers have been hoping for, but we guess it is a start.
However given that Resident Evil Revelations was originally released for the Nintendo 3DS handheld console, we guess seeing it arrive for the Switch shouldn’t really be too surprising. Seeing Resident Evil 7 on the other hand would be much more of a surprise, but who knows what the future holds?
Capcom has also announced that Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2 will be released on the 29th of August for the PS4 and Xbox One, so it looks like Sony and Microsoft will be getting their hands on the game first. Samsung's New LTE modem supports faster-than-fiber speeds

 For People seeking to get the Samsung s9 next year,  it could have a modem that's faster than your home fiber connection. Samsung has unveiled a co-called 6CA (carrier aggregation) modem that can handle download speeds as high as 1.2 Gbps, fast enough to download a full-length HD movie in 10 seconds.

That's 20 percent faster than the 1 Gbps 5CA (five carrier aggregation) modem that Samsung put in its Exynos 8895 chips for the Galaxy S8. As a reminder, this is still LTE Advanced and not the 5G that networks in the US, Europe and elsewhere are building out now. To get such speeds, mobile operators allow the chips to grab multiple LTE frequencies, like 800Mhz and 1.8GHz, and combine them.

Samsung worked with a Japanese company that measures cellphone network speeds, Anritsu. The new system combines up to six frequencies rather than five and will offer more stable data transfers, Samsung says. It also supports 4x4 MIMO (multiple-input, multiple-output) tech, which improves bandwidth when signals are strong, and another technique called higher-order 256 QAM to maximize data rates. The theoretical 1.2Gbps speed is nice, but in real life you'd be lucky to get a fraction of that in North America. Most carriers are only aggregating three LTE channels at best, and network congestion prevents the amazing speeds we see in testing. However, Sprint recently promised four carrier aggregation and achieved 330 Mbps on a single channel via "massive MIMO" trials with Samsung.

Samsung's 6CA chip will hit production by the end of 2017, meaning it won't appear in the Galaxy Note 8 (due in August) but could appear in its next-gen processor, thought to be called the Exynos 9810. That's the likely chip for the Galaxy S8's successor, though US buyers will probably get a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip.


Google adds badges to image search to identify GIFs and videos

New feature  launched by Google for image search called badges that will categorize the content behind selected images. For example, if a picture is pulled from a recipe or from a video, the badge will identify it as such.

The new feature, which is available on the mobile web and in the Google app for Android devices, will also label GIFs. That should help save some time when you’re looking for the perfect response to whatever stupid thing your friend said. Google hasn’t said when the feature will be available on its iOS app, but it shouldn’t be too long before it shows up.



DJI drones can now run 3DR’s site scan software

3DR has found its sweet spot as a provider of software for mapping and surveying construction sites. But until now the software only ran on a dedicated drone made by 3DR, which was a big barrier to entry for some firms.
But Today the news is about  a great change as 3DR has just announced that its site scan capture software will now work on DJI drones, starting with the Phantom 4 and eventually expanding from there to support other drones in DJI’s product line.
These success was made possible by the DJI and 3DR who used to be rivals in the consumer drone space.
But now that the two companies have different target audiences a partnership makes sense, especially as they had already worked together on the regulatory side when they were both in the consumer space. So now 3DR can reap the benefits outlined above, while DJI can now say it supports one of the best professional-grade site scanning solutions available.

First, it means that site operators won’t have to buy a new drone just to use 3DR’s software, which could make it more affordable for smaller construction companies who would rather have a multipurpose drone like the Phantom 4. It also puts 3DR’s software in the hands of a whole new group of people who are comfortable with operating one of DJI’s drones, but didn’t want to spend time figuring out how to use another product.
As part of the integration 3DR will sell a bundled Phantom 4 alongside a license to use their site map toolkit, and will also sell the software individually for people who already have a compatible DJI drone.

HP made an even more powerful VR backpack

HP’s new Z VR Backpack is being marketed as a workstation PC for all kinds of businesses — theme parks, automative showrooms, real estate agencies, and anything else that might have a use for virtual reality. It’s designed to give them high-end performance so that, when customers are shown virtual reality demoes of a car or a house they might be interested in, they don’t get distracted by bad graphics and stuttering frame rates.
Two months after introducing a backpack PC for virtual reality, HP is introducing another one. But this time, it isn’t meant for gamers.

The Z VR Backpack is even more powerful than HP’s gaming backpack, the Omen X Compact Desktop. While both use Intel’s Core i7 processors (both Kaby Lake), the Z VR Backpack has an Nvidia Quadro P5200 GPU, instead of the GTX 1080 in the Omen. HP says the Quadro card it’s offering includes twice the frame buffer of the 1080. The backpack will also be configurable with up to 32GB of RAM.

To help convince businesses of virtual reality’s use, HP is going to open 13 VR “immersion centers” where people can go to experience the hardware and the different ways it can be put to use. All 13 are supposed to be up and running by the end of September, with five launching in Europe, four in the Americas, and four in the Asia-Pacific region.

iPhone 8 Leaked: ‘Tap to wake’ support, no in-screen Touch ID, & more

Apple’s HomePod firmware has provided a lot of information about the smart speaker itself, but perhaps more interestingly, information about the upcoming iPhone 8. Developer Steven-Troughton Smith has been the source of much of that information, spending the past few days digging through the HomePod’s IPSW file.

This evening, Smith has shared additional details from the HomePod firmware, noting of how software will be affected by the iPhone 8’s “notch” along the top, new ARKit features, and Touch ID details…



First, Smith says the code does not offer any indication of in-screen Touch ID. He says there’s no evidence that suggests “ultra-sound” under-display Touch ID, which is the tech that earlier patents had suggested. “Looks like not this year, quash that one,” Smith wrote on Twitter. This further lends credence to Touch ID being on the back of the device or gone altogether.

Smith also notes that the iPhone 8 might support “tap to wake” much like other smartphones on the market. This would allow for users to wake their device by simply tapping on the display. A report last week hinted at Apple developing this feature, and now it appears to be present in the code.

As for the new iOS status bar, Smith explains that the code indicates a “lot more complex and powerful in design” status bar because of the notch cutout. He says it may even be interactive, though specific information about how this would work is unclear right now.

The HomePod firmware also hints at a handful of new features coming ARKit and Photos. Details are unclear at this point, but Smith points to things like ARFaceAnchor with the front-facing depth camera.

Smith also says he sees nothing that even hints at the iPhone 8’s rumored function area, leading him to believe that it’s just standard screen space.

Finally, the iPhone 8’s software Home button is referred to as the “home indicator,” while the HomePod code also shows that it will be hidden in certain contexts as to not take up screen real estate.

As for how Smith is drawing all of these iPhone 8 conclusions from the HomePod firmware, he explains that the HomePod firmware is essentially the same as the iPhone firmware, but with a few changes.

So far, the HomePod firmware has revealed new information about the smart speaker’s hardware specifications and interaction methods, while also revealing the iPhone 8 front design and face recognition details. All of this should be taken with a grain of salt, but seeing that it’s in Apple code, there’s a strong likelihood that it’s legit.
